SSU and National Police neutralized an organized crime group in Ivano-Frankivsk region: 12 members detained

The SSU, in cooperation with the National Police, neutralized an organized crime group led by the "watcher" for Kolomyia — they demanded $800,000 from a businessman associated with cryptocurrency.

12 participants who terrorized the Ivano-Frankivsk region by extorting money from entrepreneurs have been detained — the amount of "debts" depended on the person’s financial status. During a large-scale special operation in 9 regions involving the SSU, KORD, and National Police, 28 searches were conducted, weapons, cash, vehicles, and "black accounting" were seized. Part of the group was detained immediately after receiving part of the money ($300,000) from the businessman.

All 12 defendants have been charged under part 4 of Article 189 of the Criminal Code (extortion) and have been remanded in custody. They face up to 12 years in prison with confiscation of property.
