FPV technology on "Shaheds": the enemy is equipping long-range drones with new equipment

For the first time, a complete set of equipment for converting a drone into FPV format was found on the wreckage of one of the "Shaheds."

This was reported by  Defence Express.

Analysis of the wreckage of downed "Shaheds" shows that the enemy is increasingly using equipment with mesh modems and forward-facing cameras. This opens up the possibility of making the drones more controllable and converting them into FPV drones.

Initially, such modems were only found on foam "Gerbers." However, since July, they began appearing on "Shaheds" as well, as reported by expert Serhii "Flash."

Serial modernization of "Shaheds"

By August, the number of such cases began to rise sharply, and by early September, it became clear that this is a serial solution. Russia is consistently equipping long-range "Geran-2" drones with modems and cameras.

Detailed examination of the wreckage is usually difficult—most "Shaheds" are destroyed or burned upon impact.

However, on one of the downed devices, a complete set of equipment was found.

Chinese modem and simple camera

The "Geran-2" is equipped with the same mesh modem as the "Gerber." It is the Chinese Mesh Network XK-F358 from Xingkai Tech, which in industrial design is labeled as HX-50.

The camera is rigidly mounted in the nose section. It provides only a frontal view and is typical of security surveillance systems. Although the quality is not high, it is sufficient for flight control and potential target adjustment.

Experts noted back in July that the key issue lies in data transmission. There is a hypothesis that the enemy may have ground-based repeaters installed by an agent network.

Another option is creating a long "mesh chain" of drones in the air. Theoretically, this is possible, but in practice, implementing such a system is extremely difficult.
