In the Leningrad Oblast of Russia, explosions were heard on the night of September 14. Drones attacked the Kirishi Oil Refinery: eyewitnesses observed a fire on the territory of the facility.

This refinery in Russia is among the top 5 in terms of oil processing volume. Videos showing the aftermath of the attack appeared online, the regional governor confirmed a "fire" at the plant, and the Commander of the Unmanned Systems Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Robert Brovdi ("Madyar"), revealed some details of the strike.

Local authorities began warning residents of Leningrad Oblast about the "danger of UAVs" around 3:00 AM. By approximately 03:30, the regional governor started reporting on "downed" drones in the Kirishi district of the oblast.

The Russians "shot them down" in their usual and reliable way: by using yet another oil refinery. Closer to morning, videos began appearing online that captured not only the attempts of Russian air defence to target the drones flying in the sky but also the fire at the local "city-forming enterprise" – the "Kirishinefteorgsintez" plant.

"Drones struck the Kirishi Refinery in Leningrad Oblast. Witnesses see a major fire there," wrote a Russian Telegram channel at 04:54 AM.

According to the version of OSINT researchers who analyzed the first footage of the fire at "Kirishinefteorgsintez," the strike may have hit the primary oil distillation unit ELOU AVT-6. However, the Telegram channel emphasizes that the real extent of the damage can only be assessed after satellite imagery becomes available.

Some time later, the strike on the mentioned refinery was confirmed by the Commander of the Unmanned Systems Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. According to Robert Brovdi, the strike was carried out in cooperation with the Special Operations Forces.

"The Kirishi Refinery, ’Surgutneftegaz’ (Kirishi, Leningrad Oblast, RF) suffered damage. The attack by Ukrainian drones caused significant harm. One of the top 5 in Russia, producing high-octane gasoline and all types of fuel (20 million tons per year). The visit to the chemical plant was carried out on the night of 14.09.25 by units of the ’Birds’ of the Unmanned Systems Forces (14th Regiment) and the SOF... To be continued… Gasoline is becoming a scarce liquid, while gas and oil burn quickly," he wrote.
