Russian shelling in Sumy region: three civilians killed and four injured

During the day, due to Russian shelling of the Sumy region, there are casualties and injured among civilians.

This was reported in the Regional Military Administration.

• In the Bilopillia community, a 66-year-old man died due to GAB strikes.
• In the Mykolaivka rural community, a 40-year-old man died due to an FPV drone strike.
• In the Velyka Pysarivka community, a 65-year-old man died due to mortar shelling.

In the Sumy community, a 52-year-old man was injured due to a UAV attack.

The following individuals also sought medical attention:

• A 44-year-old resident of the Hlukhiv community who was injured due to an FPV drone strike on October 6;
• A 39-year-old resident of the Krasnopillia community injured due to an FPV drone attack on October 6;
• A 47-year-old resident of the Stepanyivka community, wounded on October 7 due to a UAV strike.

During the day, from the morning of October 8 to the morning of October 9, 2025, Russian forces fired almost 50 shells at 25 settlements in 13 territorial communities of the region. The most shelling was recorded in the Sumy and Shostka districts.

The following community settlements were under enemy fire:

• Sumy
• Stepanyivka
• Mykolaivka rural
• Myropillia
• Yunakivka
• Hotin
• Bilopillia
• Krasnopillia
• Esmanska
• Shalyhynska
• Seredyna-Buda
• Sveska
• Velyka Pysarivka
• Komyshanka.

The enemy launched 15 GAB strikes and more than 10 UAV strikes in the region. FPV drones were also used in attacks.

Civil infrastructure objects were damaged or destroyed:

• In the Bilopillia community, a private residential building, a car, and a civil infrastructure object were damaged;
• In the Sumy community, private residential buildings, an educational institution, non-residential buildings, an apartment building, administrative buildings, cars, and civil infrastructure objects were damaged;
• In the Stepanyivka community, a non-residential building was damaged;
• In the Shalyhynska community, a private house was damaged;
• In the Komyshanka community, non-residential buildings were damaged.

23 people were evacuated. During the day, the air raid alert in the region lasted 22 hours and 3 minutes.
