Attempted sabotage in Ternopil: Sixth-grader was recruited through Telegram channel to set fire to transport

A sixth-grader from one of the Ternopil schools approached an educational safety inspector, reporting an attempt at recruitment through a Telegram channel. She was offered "earnings" for setting fire to vehicles, which could have been part of subversive activities.

According to police information, the scheme of recruiting minors usually starts with simple tasks, after which offenders resort to blackmail or promises of monetary rewards to involve children in serious crimes.

Thanks to the schoolgirl’s attentiveness and her timely appeal to the inspector, the recruitment attempt was stopped. The information was passed on to the relevant services, which have already started an investigation.

The police of Ternopil region urge parents and educators to be attentive to children’s behavior on social media and to teach them the basics of cybersecurity. This case once again highlights the importance of the educational safety service in schools, which helps protect young people from criminal influences.
