Slovenia joins the PURL initiative to supply American weapons to Ukraine

Slovenia joins the PURL initiative, under which NATO countries allocate funds for the purchase of American weapons to support Ukraine.

This was announced by Slovenian Prime Minister Robert Golob during a press conference with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.

"I cannot disclose the amount because it is classified. And I currently do not have the authority to declassify it, but it is included in the budget of the Ministry of Defence for 2025, so these are not additional expenses," the head of the Slovenian government explained.

He noted that this aid package is focused solely on defensive weapons. In particular, it concerns air defense systems to protect Ukrainian energy facilities from Russian attacks.

Golob highlighted that Slovenia has been providing Ukraine with defensive weaponry for quite some time.
