Ukraine seeks freedom to use 163 billion of frozen Russian assets

Ukraine claims the need to gain freedom in using the $163 billion of frozen Russian assets.

This is reported by the Reuters agency.

According to the agency, Kyiv asserts that the EU credit funds of $163 billion, formed from the frozen Russian assets, should not be restricted in use and should be applied not only for purchasing European weaponry.

As noted by the publication, the money is needed for acquiring arms from various countries, restoring facilities damaged by Russian attacks, and compensating the victims.

Part of the loan will be used for cooperation with European defence companies, however, Ukraine seeks autonomy in managing these funds.

The main portion of the loan will also be directed towards restoring critical infrastructure, with a smaller part allocated for compensating citizens.
