The Russian Ministry of Defence has ordered a large batch of Kalibr cruise missiles with nuclear warheads, reports «Militarnyi», citing procurement documents.

- The contract for the supply of 56 missiles with «special warheads» is to be fulfilled between 2024 and 2026.

- The order has been placed with the Russian design bureau «Novator».

- These missiles are installed on Russian frigates, corvettes, small missile ships, and submarines, and are periodically launched by the Russian Black Sea Fleet from Novorossiysk.

- The missile is equipped with an inertial-satellite guidance system and can fly at low altitudes, making it difficult to detect by air defence systems.

- The flight range of missiles intended for the Russian army is between 1,500 and 2,500 km.
