Trump stated that China will help the US in efforts to end the war in Ukraine

US President Donald Trump stated that China will join Washington’s efforts to end the war in Ukraine.

Speaking with journalists on board a plane, he noted that the issue of Ukraine was discussed "very seriously and took a lot of time" during the meeting. According to him, Xi Jinping will assist the US in establishing peace in Ukraine.

"Both of us will work together to see if we can achieve something. We agree that the sides, you know, are tightly locked in and fighting, and sometimes you have to let them fight, probably. It’s crazy. But he will help us, and we will work together on the issue of Ukraine," the head of the White House stated.

At the same time, he noted that the leaders might not be able to do much.

"He has been buying oil from Russia for a long time and supplies a significant part of China. And, you know, I can say that India is doing very well on this issue, but we really didn’t discuss oil. We talked about cooperation to see if we can end this war," Trump said.

The American leader also added that, although the war in Ukraine does not directly affect either China or the US, he would like "this to be over already."

"I don’t like seeing six, seven, eight thousand young people, mostly soldiers, dying," he stated.

He added that Washington is making money from the war in Ukraine, referring to the purchase of American weapons by EU countries for Ukraine under the PURL program.

"We supply weapons to NATO. They buy them at full price, buy weapons, and then transfer them, probably mostly to Ukraine," Trump concluded, reiterating that China and the US will try to end Russia’s war in Ukraine.
