Canada has accelerated the payment of 70 million dollars for the restoration of Ukraine’s energy infrastructure
Minister of Foreign Affairs Anita Anand announced that Canada is accelerating the payment of the final portion of its $70 million USD contribution to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund.
This was reported by the Government of Canada.
$10 million was paid ahead of schedule to help Ukraine repair critical energy infrastructure damaged by Russian strikes.
In the context of a recent surge in attacks on natural gas facilities, Anand announced that the Energy Community Secretariat has allocated approximately $50 million from Canada’s total contribution to purchase and deliver natural gas compressors for the Kharkiv region. This equipment is urgently needed to restore energy supply and stabilize the system ahead of winter.
"With winter approaching and Russia’s renewed attacks on critical civilian infrastructure, the need for energy support is urgent. In response, Canada is accelerating efforts to restore Ukraine’s critical energy systems and support Ukrainians through the harshest months ahead," said Canada’s Foreign Affairs Minister Anita Anand.
