Zelenskyy appointed Yuriy Cherevashenko as the commander of unmanned air defence systems
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has approved the appointment of Colonel Yuriy Cherevashenko as the Commander of Unmanned Air Defence Systems and Deputy Commander of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The corresponding order was signed by Defence Minister Denys Shmyhal.
«There are many tasks ahead of the new commander, which we have approved at the Staff meeting. In particular, this includes the active implementation of unmanned systems, namely interceptor drones, and strengthening our air defence system with the latest models of weaponry,» the Head of State noted.
Yuriy Cherevashenko participated in the creation of the first group of mobile rapid-response air defence brigades. Recently, he has been working on interceptor drones and, in his new position, is tasked with scaling the development of the unmanned component in the Air Force.
