Ivan Tymochko, a serviceman and chairman of the Council of Reservists of the Ground Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, said that Russian troops are trying to completely capture the Donetsk and Luhansk regions, as well as create a threat in the direction of the Oskil reservoir in the Kharkiv region.

According to him, the Russians are seeking to occupy Chasiv Yar to create a foothold for an offensive towards Kostiantynivka, Kramatorsk and Slovyansk.

"The enemy is acting in operational terms, combining its military groups from the Avdiivka direction, as its main task is to completely occupy the Donetsk region," commented Tymochko.

He added that Russian troops are also trying to complete the seizure of Luhansk region and create threats to Kharkiv region, in particular towards the Oskil water reservoir.

"We observe that the enemy is facing the task of occupying Chasiv Yar in a short time, as we see the strength and mass of human resources that the Russian army is deploying towards Chasiv Yar," said the head of the Reservists’ Council of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Tymochko stressed that Russian troops are using the same tactics they used against Avdiivka, levelling the city to the ground with the help of aircraft. The enemy is also trying to bring in reserves from Kharkiv and Luhansk regions.

"I would not say that after Avdiivka, Chasiv Yar is the occupiers’ No. 1 target, but it is one of the priority areas they are trying to capture, assuming that we have a certain shortage of shells and certain problems with air defence systems," the military expert noted.

Nevertheless, at this stage, there are no significant successes or threats of a breakthrough in this area. Ukrainian troops are holding back the enemy with the available forces and resources.

"If the enemy is making advances in the direction of Chasiv Yar, they are minimal," summed up Ivan Tymochko.
