“The latest package of British military aid to Ukraine will include Paveway IV bombs,” the journalist wrote on his X (formerly Twitter) account.
What is known about the Paveway IV bomb
Paveway IV is the most modern version of the aerial bomb in the Paveway family. The projectile was developed by Raytheon UK. It has a dual navigation system: satellite GPS or inertial INS. It is based on a modified Mk 82 aerial bomb with increased penetrating power.

The Paveway IV entered service with the Royal Air Force in 2008. The mass of the bomb is 230 kg. Targeting is carried out using a laser pointer in any navigation mode. Currently, fighter aircraft are carriers of aerial bombs:
- Eurofighter Typhoon;
- F-35;
- Panavia Tornado;
- Harrier II.
It is not yet known which aircraft of the Ukrainian Air Force will become the carrier of air bombs. However, the Paveway IV is similar in characteristics to the American JDAM and French Hammer. In both cases, the shells were integrated into the Su-27 and MiG-29 fighters.
