Ukraine retains control in the Kharkiv region and Donetsk direction, - Zelenskyy

In an evening address on 20 May, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy spoke about the situation in the Donetsk and Kharkiv regions, saying that despite Russian attacks with guided aerial bombs, Ukraine maintains control everywhere. Zelenskyy also noted the need for additional air defence systems and new combat aircraft.

This is stated in Zelenskyy’s address

“I spoke today with the Commander-in-Chief about the situation, in particular in the Donetsk directions, in the Kharkiv region. We maintain control everywhere. Russian killers are actively using guided bombs - both in the areas of the city of Chasiv Yar, and in the Pokrovsk direction, and in the Lyptsi area in the Kharkiv region, and in other battlefields, this comes back again and again to the need for air defense - additional defence systems that could significantly reduce the challenge for our warriors and the threat to our cities and communities.

The president also thanked all partners who understand Ukraine’s need for air defense and “its importance – the real strategic air defence force in this war.”

“But we still have promising work with several partners and are doing everything so that the day comes as quickly as possible when we can add the strength of the “petriots” to our eastern regions, our cities, such as Kharkiv, Sumy and others.”
