Ukraine will receive the latest German Frankenstein tank

In the near future, the Ukrainian military will receive a new Frankenstein tank from Germany. It is capable of shooting down missiles and drones.

This is stated in a report by The Telegraph . This air defense tank was developed by Rheinmetall. The creation of a new vehicle will strengthen the defense capability of Ukraine.

The basis for Frankenstein will be Leopard 1. They plan to install the most modern Skyranger anti-aircraft system on its hull, which is capable of countering threats at short distances.

In particular, we are talking about swarms of drones and artillery fire, which are increasingly seen as decisive on the front lines in Ukraine.

Mounting the Skyranger on the Leopard will provide increased ammunition capacity to a 35mm cannon and missiles, better off-road capability and the ability to overcome difficult off-road conditions near the front lines.

This will also allow for the installation of additional equipment that can be used to detect and track targets and increase the number of missiles ready for launch.

As Bjorn Bernhard, head of the ground systems department at Rheinmetall, emphasized, there are still many Leopard 1 main battle tanks on the chassis of which a Skyranger turret with a 35 mm automatic cannon could be installed.
