In Kramatorsk, employees of the Security Service of Ukraine detained two agents of the FSB of the Russian Federation. A previously convicted drug dealer from this city and his cohabitant helped Russian military personnel adjust fire on Ukraine’s critical infrastructure and air defense systems.

The pair of traitors were directing Russian missiles and drones at critical infrastructure in five regions of our country. Details were disclosed on the Telegram channel of the SBU and the Donetsk Regional Prosecutor’s Office.

"The Security Service detained two FSB agents who were adjusting Rashist airstrikes on Donetsk, Kyiv, Chernihiv, Poltava, and Cherkasy regions. The perpetrators turned out to be a 27-year-old repeat offender, a former drug dealer from Kramatorsk, and his 34-year-old cohabitant," the Service noted.

The man was the first to be recruited by the Russian special service: he was looking for quick earnings on Telegram, and in April 2024, he was contacted by an FSB representative. The traitor was offered cooperation with the enemy for money, to which he agreed, bringing in his civilian wife as well.

"The accomplices were tasked with installing devices for video surveillance to monitor the movements of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and control the airspace near military airfields. Using this scheme, the couple concealed equipment on the highway in the Kramatorsk region," stated the Donetsk Regional Prosecutor’s Office.

Later, the couple expanded their area of activity, starting to travel to other regions under the guise of a "family couple," collecting coordinates for Russia’s missile, bombing, and drone attacks. They were also tasked with tracking the location of air defense systems during enemy air attacks and clarifying the consequences of the strikes.

The traitors moved from city to city, renting apartments with a view of potential targets in each. In particular, they were in Kremenchuk and Cherkasy, renting accommodation with windows overlooking critical infrastructure facilities.

"The suspects filmed videos and photos of air defense systems, hydroelectric power stations, and other enterprises in the Poltava, Kyiv, Sumy, and Cherkasy regions. They earned at least 600,000 UAH for assisting the Russian Federation," noted the Donetsk Regional Prosecutor’s Office.

After renting another apartment, the SSU added, the traitors installed mobile phones in the windows with additional power sources to stream images for the Russians in real-time.

The enemy agents were uncovered and detained in Kramatorsk, Donetsk region, where they had returned to complete further assignments from the Russian special service.

"During the special operation, all mobile phones that the individuals had installed at ’observation posts’ in various regions of Ukraine were seized.

Based on the collected evidence, Security Service investigators notified the agents of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (state treason committed under martial law). The offenders are in custody. They face life imprisonment with confiscation of property," added the SSU.

The special operation was conducted by employees of the SBU in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions under the procedural guidance of the Donetsk Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
