Shmyhal: The heating season has started in all regions except Kherson region

This was announced by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal at a government meeting on November 5.

"The heating season has started in all regions of Ukraine. The exception is the Kherson region, where relatively warm weather still persists. The readiness of communities and regions for winter is complete. 83% of boiler houses are operational, heat is supplied to 70% of residential buildings and over 80% of schools, hospitals, and kindergartens," he said. 

Shmyhal added that the relevant ministries and agencies are monitoring the situation and, together with local authorities, understand their areas of responsibility. He emphasized that for the coming winter, Ukraine has enough of its own energy resources, and gas reserves in underground storage will be sufficient for household consumers, for district heating companies, and for budget institutions. 

"In forming the reserves, we took into account the needs of decentralized generation gas installations. This will be the second heating season in a row that we will use only Ukrainian gas," the head of the government noted.
