Warning, fraudsters: fake messages about changes in pension payments are being spread in Ukraine

The Cyberpolice and the Pension Fund of Ukraine warn citizens about a new fraudulent scheme related to alleged adjustments of pension payments.

Malefactors use social networks and messengers to spread false information and extract personal data from pensioners.

How does the fraud scheme work?

Fraudsters create fake advertisements that announce supposedly new rules for pension calculation. They impersonate representatives of the Pension Fund and urge pensioners to fill out an "official form" on a special website.

To create the illusion of credibility, the scammers use a design similar to official state resources. After entering personal and banking information, users effectively pass it on to the fraudsters, who may use this information to steal funds or engage in other illegal activities.

How to protect yourself from fraud?

Trust only official sources. All information about pension payment changes is published on the web portal of the Pension Fund of Ukraine (www.pfu.gov.ua) and its official social media pages.

Check the links. Official websites of state institutions always have the gov.ua domain.

Do not click on suspicious links. Even if they were sent by acquaintances, as their accounts may have been hacked.

Do not disclose your personal data. The Pension Fund does not collect confidential information through forms in messengers.

Warn relatives and acquaintances. Especially those who may be less aware of online threats.

Experts caution that any messages about changes in pension payment rules disseminated through dubious channels may be part of a fraudulent scheme. Be careful and do not allow offenders to exploit your trust!
