Former head of the SSU Bakanov is not involved in any criminal proceedings by the State Bureau of Investigations, - media

The former head of the Security Service of Ukraine, Ivan Bakanov, is not a subject of any criminal investigations by the State Bureau of Investigation.

This became known from the response of the SBI to a request from Ukrainska Pravda.

"There are no criminal proceedings related to Ivan Bakanov under the consideration of SBI investigators."

On July 17, 2022, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy suspended Bakanov from the position of head of the SSU due to "failure to perform official duties, which led to casualties or other serious consequences," as provided for in Article 47 of the Disciplinary Statute of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

As it turned out in February 2023, the Security Service of Ukraine conducted an internal investigation regarding its former leader, but the results remain classified.

Until today, it was not known whether Bakanov was involved in any criminal proceedings related to his previous activities.
