A Ukrainian officer, commenting on the results of the talks at the White House, told a TIME journalist that President Volodymyr Zelenskyy showed firmness in his conversation with Donald Trump, but this may have serious consequences for Ukraine.

"President Zelenskyy did well. He stood up to Trump. You have to respect that. But now we’re in trouble," the military officer said.
