Zelenskyy received letters of credence from the ambassadors of Sri Lanka and Guatemala
On Monday, March 24, two diplomatic missions started operations in Ukraine. The embassies of Guatemala and Sri Lanka opened their doors.
This was announced by the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy. He presented the ambassadors of these countries with their credentials and spoke with the diplomats.
"Credentials from the new ambassadors of Sri Lanka and Guatemala who have started their activities in Ukraine. Discussed important bilateral issues. We hope for the development of cooperation between our countries and joint steps towards achieving peace," the president’s statement reads.
The head of state congratulated them on the start of their diplomatic missions in Ukraine and expressed hope for intensified cooperation between the countries.
The ambassadors of Sri Lanka and Guatemala noted that their people sincerely wish the Ukrainians peace.

Meeting with the Ambassador of Sri Lanka
During the conversation with the Ambassador of Sri Lanka, the president noted that Ukraine is conducting constructive negotiations with representatives of the United States and is ready to do everything possible for the quickest achievement of peace.
Zelenskyy emphasized that Ukraine has already proposed steps that would lay the necessary foundation for the further negotiation process and expects support for this position from other states.


"We would be grateful to Sri Lanka for more active support on the path to ensuring a just and lasting peace in Ukraine based on the UN Charter and international law," added Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
The president also noted that Ukraine is interested in developing bilateral cooperation, particularly in the fields of trade, education, food security, and medical rehabilitation.
Meeting with the Ambassador of Guatemala
During the conversation with the Ambassador of Guatemala, the head of state thanked the country and its President, Bernardo Arevalo, for their consistent position on supporting Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized that Ukraine looks forward to developing friendly bilateral relations. They discussed deepening cooperation in the fields of education and science and the exchange of experience in the digitization of public services.
"Particular attention was paid to continuing cooperation in the field of demining," Zelenskyy said.


The president also announced plans to open a Ukrainian embassy in Guatemala soon.
