Security Service of Ukraine arrested an enemy spotter who facilitated Russian strikes on Kherson
The Security Service of Ukraine detected and detained a Russian spotter who collaborated with Russian occupiers and helped direct strikes on Kherson. It was found that the detainee is a 53-year-old local resident, unemployed.
The perpetrator actively attempted to identify the locations of Ukrainian Defence Forces, as well as strategic energy facilities that could become important targets for Russian attacks. This was reported by the press service of the SSU.
According to investigators, the spotter roamed Kherson and its surroundings, trying to locate the positions of Ukrainian Armed Forces’ UAV (unmanned aerial vehicle) units, as well as artillery positions.

A separate target was an important electrical substation that provides electricity not only to residential areas but also to hospitals.
The detention of the spotter was the result of comprehensive measures taken by the SSU to ensure the security of important locations of Defence Forces and energy facilities. During the search, the man’s mobile phone was confiscated, containing evidence of his collaboration in favor of Russia, as well as weapons and ammunition he took from the combat zones for Kherson.
According to the investigation, the man came to the attention of Russian special services after offering help in chats of pro-Russian Telegram channels. After being recruited remotely, he began contact with a Russian curator through a ’liaison’ — a militant stationed on the left bank of Kherson region.
The SBU notified the detainee of suspicion under Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (state treason under martial law). The criminal is in custody and faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
