A soldier with a rifle took a driver hostage in Sumy region: the hostage was not harmed

The National Police reported an armed incident that occurred in the evening of April 23 in the Sumy region.

According to law enforcement officers, a 47-year-old serviceman from the Kyiv region took a local resident hostage and, threatening with a machine gun, forced him to drive towards Kyiv. During the drive, the man fired several shots at the driver, but he survived.

Less than an hour after the signal was received on the line "102", the police intercepted the vehicle on the "Sumy-Kyiv" highway and apprehended the attacker.

The motives for his actions are currently being clarified. Fortunately, the victim of the incident did not suffer any bodily harm.
