The Head of the Foreign Intelligence Service named the regions of Ukraine that the invaders seek to occupy
Despite seemingly peaceful negotiations in Istanbul, the occupiers’ plans on the battlefield remain unchanged. The Kremlin aims to create a buffer zone in the territories of Kharkiv, Sumy, and Chernihiv regions, as well as fully occupy the Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhya, and Kherson regions.
This was reported by the head of the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine, Oleh Ivashchenko, in an interview with Ukrinform.
“Nothing new. Gaining full control over the Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhya, and Kherson regions. However, they cannot fully implement this plan. They also plan to create a so-called security zone on the territories of Kharkiv, Sumy, and Chernihiv regions. But they no longer have the resources. If earlier they dreamed of 30 kilometers deep, now it’s only 5-10 km,” Ivashchenko noted.
The country’s chief intelligence officer also commented on the misinformation that Ukrainian military had left the border areas. This is not true.
“On the contrary, Ukraine controls several positions on Russian territory, particularly in the Kursk and Belgorod regions,” Ivashchenko reported.
In general, the Russian Federation aims to control the entire territory of Ukraine.
“But desire does not mean capability. They are exhausted – technologically, economically, and diplomatically. Overall, Russia’s long-term goal is to establish control over the countries of the former Soviet Union,” the head of the Foreign Intelligence Service added.
