In Ukraine, the procedure for one-time payments after the death of a serviceman has been changed
The Ministry of Defence of Ukraine proposed to change the procedure for providing one-time financial assistance to servicemen, conscripts, reservists, and their family members.
The changes were approved by the Cabinet of Ministers.
Now, in the event of the death of a serviceman within a year after discharge from military service, if the death was the result of an injury, concussion, trauma, or illness related to the performance of military duties or the passage of military service, the date of the right to assistance is considered the date of the act of death record.
Previously, it was counted from the date of death indicated on the death certificate. The same norms apply to conscripts and reservists.
The resolution also addressed situations with unidentified persons. If a serviceman, conscript, or reservist was initially not identified and later his identity was established, the date of the right to assistance becomes the date of the corresponding changes being made to the act of death record.
"For persons missing, whose death was later officially registered, the right to assistance can be exercised from the date of the act of death record contained in the certificate. The resolution introduces a unified approach to the payment of assistance during martial law conditions," the Ministry of Defence explained.
