Ukraine needs about 200 aircraft for effective defense — Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine

The Ukrainian army needs approximately 200 combat aircraft to effectively protect the state.

This was stated by the spokesperson of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Yuriy Ihnat.

According to him, the aircraft fleet should include various types of aircraft. He emphasized that the F-16 is a multirole fighter capable of operating against air, ground, and maritime targets.

“There are specific, different tasks in aviation, so not only F-16s are needed, but also other types of aircraft,” Ihnat noted.

He also emphasized that updating the aviation fleet is critically important to ensuring air superiority and supporting ground operations.
