The Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine shared their perspective on the night air attack by Russia on Ukraine. This is one of the most large-scale combined strikes on Ukraine in recent times.

This information was reported on the air of the telethon “Unified News” by the head of the Communications Department of the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Colonel Yuriy Ihnat.

“I want to clarify immediately: 479 air targets is the total number, including not only kamikaze drones but also imitation drones. In fact, the number of strike-type drones was less than half,” explained Yuriy Ihnat.

During the attack, the enemy used a wide arsenal of weapons, including:

  • Cruise missiles X-22 (from Tu-22M3 aircraft);
  • 10 missiles X-101 (strategic aviation);
  • 4 missiles "Kinzhal" (Kh-47M2);
  • X-35 and X-31P missiles;
  • “Geran-2” drones;
  • other UAVs, including the “Molniya” type.

“292 targets were destroyed by fire means, and another 187 were suppressed by electronic warfare means,” added the colonel.

Despite the effective work of air defense, some missiles and drones still hit targets on the territory of Ukraine.

“It is impossible to shoot down everything completely. We urge citizens not to ignore air raid signals. Falling debris can pose a serious danger,” the speaker emphasized.
