The Ministry of Culture was temporarily headed by Halyna Hryhorenko

After the government reshuffle approved by the Verkhovna Rada on July 17, the position of Minister of Culture and Strategic Communications remains vacant. The duties of the head of the department will be temporarily performed by the First Deputy Minister, Halyna Hryhorenko.

This is reported by Suspilne with reference to the government procedure.

Hryhorenko has held the position of First Deputy since November 2024. In her work, she focuses on art education, the development of new models of cultural funding, and the formation of long-term cultural policies. She previously worked at the Ministry of Culture and Strategic Communications from July 2022 to August 2023, after which she left the position voluntarily.

Before joining the ministry, Hryhorenko headed the State Agency for Arts and Art Education. She is the initiator of the cultural project "Season of Premieres" in cooperation with the National Opera of Ukraine and a co-founder of the independent platform Open Opera Ukraine. She also worked in the field of humanitarian policy as the head of the music department at the Ministry of Culture.

The government must appoint a new head of the Ministry of Culture by a separate decision after the appropriate approval by the parliament.
