Judge of the HACC reported pressure and surveillance — reached out to the HCJ and the PGO
The judge of the High Anti-Corruption Court (HACC) has officially appealed to the High Council of Justice and the Office of the Prosecutor General with a notification about interference in his professional activities.
This was reported by the HACC press service.
The appeal states that pressure on the judge is likely being exerted by law enforcement agencies and is manifested in the form of covert and unauthorized collection of information about him and his close associates. The judge considers these actions as a means of influencing his work.
He associates these attempts of pressure with a number of judicial decisions he has made in high-profile criminal cases, which attracted wide public interest.
The judge also emphasized that this is not only about pressure through covert actions but also a large-scale informational campaign in the media aimed at discrediting him personally and the decisions he has made within his powers as an investigative judge.
The HACC emphasized that interference in a judge’s activities regarding the administration of justice is unacceptable and threatens the independence of the judiciary.
