Russians in Zaporizhzhya damaged the External Crisis Center of the ZNPP
As a result of the Russian strike on Zaporizhzhya on August 10, the building of the External Crisis Center of ZNPP was damaged.
This was reported by the Ministry of Energy on Facebook.
"On August 10, due to the Russian attack on Zaporizhzhya, the External Crisis Center of the Zaporizhzhya NPP was damaged. Fortunately, no employees were injured, but the office building suffered partial destruction," the statement reads.
It is noted that the specialists of this center continuously monitor the radiation situation in the observation zone on the territory controlled by Ukraine, while the Russians block the automatic transmission of data on nuclear and radiation conditions through the IAEA IRMIS system.
"The attack on the infrastructure monitoring the radiation situation is yet another proof of the aggressor’s irresponsible policy, which ignores all norms of international law. The Russians again demonstrate that their actions pose a real threat to nuclear safety not only for Ukraine but for the entire European continent," commented Minister of Energy Svitlana Hrynchuk.
The Ministry of Energy calls on international organizations and foreign partners to intensify sanctions pressure on the aggressor and take urgent measures to stop the shelling of Ukraine’s nuclear infrastructure facilities.
The ministry emphasizes that the only way to restore nuclear safety and stability in the region is the complete demilitarization of the Zaporizhzhya NPP and its return to the control of NAEK "Energoatom".
As reported, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine expressed deep concern over the latest data from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), which once again confirms the cynical and irresponsible use of the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant by Russia as a military facility and "nuclear shield" to cover the shelling of Ukraine’s civilian infrastructure.
