Herman Smetanin has taken the lead of "Ukroboronprom" for the second time
Herman Smetanin has been appointed as the General Director of the Joint Stock Company "Ukrainian Defence Industry" for the second time. He has previously held this position.

The selection of candidates was carried out by the international company Odgers Berndtson: out of 14 candidates, several people reached the final stage, including Smetanin.
Following the results of the competition for this position, the enterprise’s supervisory board selected Smetanin as the new director.
"Herman Smetanin has gained unique work experience and is well-versed both in the internal processes of enterprises and in organizing the work of the defence industry at the government level," commented the chairman of the supervisory board of "Ukroboronprom," David Lomdzaria.
He added that the new General Director of JSC "UDI" is capable of "solving the most ambitious tasks" to enhance Ukraine’s defence capabilities and "create a modern arms company."
Education and Professional Pathway
Smetanin obtained a degree as a design engineer of wheeled and tracked vehicles at Kharkiv National Automobile and Highway University.
In addition, he acquired management skills in the defence-industrial complex at the National Technical University "Kyiv Polytechnic Institute named after Ihor Sikorsky."
He began his career at the Kharkiv Morozov Machine Building Design Bureau and the Lviv Armored Plant.
Subsequently, he served as the production director at the Malyshev Plant, at 28 he became the director of the Kharkiv Armored Plant, and then headed the Malyshev Plant. Herman Smetanin is currently 31 years old.
