A former Naftogaz official is suspected of causing losses of over 26 million UAH to the state company.

The State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) and the Office of the Prosecutor General have announced suspicions against the former Director of Energy Efficiency and Property Management of the Naftogaz Group of Ukraine, Vitaliy Shcherbenko, for abuse of power that led to significant losses.

According to the investigation, the official signed a lease agreement for an administrative building in Kyiv before its renovation was completed. The premises were not ready for use for almost three months, but the rent charges were still applied.

Due to the premature signing of the contract, the company incurred financial losses which, according to the investigation, amount to over 26 million UAH.
