Former Russian Energy Minister, now businessman, Igor Yusufov filed a lawsuit against Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. This was reported by «Holovkom» with reference to the state resource «Judiciary of Ukraine».
The Russian seeks to cancel Zelenskyy’s decree «On the application and amendment of personal special economic and other restrictive measures (sanctions)» dated October 19, 2022.
According to this document, 13 types of sanctions were imposed on the former Russian minister. These include the blocking of assets; complete cessation of trade operations; complete cessation of the transit of resources, flights, and transportation through the territory of Ukraine; prevention of capital withdrawal beyond Ukraine; prohibition on participation in privatization or leasing of state property; prohibition of acquiring land ownership.
The duration of the specified sanctions is 10 years.
On November 21, the Supreme Court held a drawing and appointed the composition of the court to consider the Russian’s lawsuit. Olena Hubska was chosen to preside over the case.
Additionally, according to the NAPC, Igor Yusufov was a member of the board of directors of «Gazprom» for ten years. He currently owns an energy corporation that invests in oil and gas, mining, and infrastructure companies, thus engaging in commercial activities in sectors of the economy that provide a significant revenue component of the Russian Federation budget, which is responsible for the war in Ukraine, serving as a substantial source of income for waging the war.
Besides, the former Russian minister has close ties with the preparatory and leading regime, despite the United Nations’ statutory documents, the aggressive war against Ukraine, during which crimes against humanity and genocide against the Ukrainian people are being committed.
Some Russian media refer to Igor Yusufov as the «wallet» of former Russian President, now Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council, Dmitriy Medvedev. It is noted, for example, that the luxurious yacht «Universe» worth $100 million is registered to Yusufov but is actually used by Dmitry Medvedev’s family. According to proekt.media, the former Russian president and prime minister have an office and special communication on the ship, and in the territorial waters of the Russian Federation, it is often accompanied by Navy ships.
Meanwhile, Russian journalists wrote that in 2020, Dmitriy Medvedev’s son Ilya Medvedev and former Energy Minister Igor Yusufov’s son Maxim Yusufov vacationed together on the yacht.
Previously, Yusufov tried to deny acquaintance with Medvedev, stating that he had no business relations with him and that they «never discussed any commercial issues».
