Russia doesn’t produce enough ammunition for war: what the Kremlin hopes for - Reuters
Russian industry has lost access to Western components needed to produce weapons. According to a Western official, the sanctions still had an effect on the Russian Federation.
The Russian Federation has been unable to establish the production of ammunition to continue the war in Ukraine. However, Russian President Volodymyr Putin still hopes to win. The situation in the Russian military-industrial complex and the prospects for continuing the war were described on the portal of the Reuters news agency.
The agency’s journalists spoke to an unnamed official from a Western country. The official explained that Russia’s industry cannot meet the military needs of the Russian Armed Forces. In particular, it is unable to produce the required number of shells, as well as to produce new weapons or repair/restore damaged equipment.
The reason for the current situation in Russia is the consequences of sanctions imposed by the world community because of the invasion of Ukraine, the journalists’ source is convinced. For example, the sanctions prevent factories from accessing Western components.
The official was asked what further plans the Kremlin might have if it lacks all the funds for the war. The anonymous official explained that the Russian authorities have a simple plan - to continue fighting with the available manpower and equipment until there are some results.
"We do not believe that Russia has a significant plan other than to continue fighting in the expectation that the amount of Russian manpower and equipment will eventually affect it [the situation on the frontline - ed.]
