Syrskyi issued a statement on the 10th anniversary of the start of the ATO in Donbas

The Commander-in-Chief recalled that on April 14, 2014, in pursuance of the decision of the National Security and Defence Council, the Anti-Terrorist Operation began. This was Ukraine’s reaction to the seizure of Slavyansk by a special unit of the FSB, led by an international criminal, on the orders of the head of the Kremlin.

“He performed the duties of the chief of staff of the Anti-Terrorist Operation, the deputy head of the Anti-Terrorist Operation, and the head of the Anti-Terrorist Operation with honor,” Syrskyi noted.

The Commander-in-Chief thanked the Ukrainian defenders and defenders who, in the spring of 2014, joined the ranks of the units of the Security and Defense Forces of Ukraine.

“I thank everyone who defended and is defending the independence of Ukraine. On this day we must remember and commemorate all Ukrainian defenders and defenders who laid down their lives for the freedom of our state in opposition to the Russian invasion. Eternal glory and eternal memory to our heroes,” he wrote .

Syrskyi added that the fight against the Russian occupiers continues, and “everyone who participated in the Anti-Terrorist Operation learned very well that the Ukrainian sun rises behind the waste heaps in Donbas.”
