Two volunteers disappeared in Vovchansk area: they could have been shot by the occupiers

In Vovchansk in the Kharkiv region, for which fighting is ongoing, two volunteers who were evacuating civilians disappeared. The witness claims that both were shot by Russian occupiers; one of the men may have been wounded, but is alive.

An eyewitness to the crime himself barely escaped death: the invaders shot at the guy and then locked him in the basement. The head of the investigative department of the State Emergency Department of Ukraine in the Kharkiv region, Serhiy Bolvinov, spoke about the crimes of the occupiers in Vovchansk.

He noted that law enforcement officers already have information about the atrocities of the Russian military against the civilian population in Vovchansk - despite the fact that the Russians failed to capture the city, there were only breakthroughs by individual small groups.

“The Russians in Vovchansk are already hunting for volunteers and shooting civilians. A pensioner’s finger was shot off, a young guy was almost killed, and we are still figuring out the fate of the volunteers. We have long understood who they are. But these cases are still shocking,” Bolvinov wrote.

The pensioner mentioned by the head of the investigation department of the Kharkiv region police was at home when he was injured. When the Russians began a massive shelling, and further enemy groups made their way into the city, he locked the door. At some point, Russian occupiers began knocking on his door. They did not wait for it to be opened for them: they opened fire on the doors. One of the bullets shot off the owner of the house’s finger.

At the height of the battles for the city in Vovchansk, two volunteers also disappeared. The men arrived in the village in their own car to take one of the local families out of it. However, the volunteers never reached the people waiting for rescue: they disappeared along the way.

“We are already investigating this case, but, unfortunately, according to preliminary information and data from witnesses, the guys were shot by the Russian military. One of them was probably wounded, the second did not survive,” Bolvinov noted.

The “Russian World” in all its “glory” was also seen by one of the witnesses in the case of the disappearance of volunteers: a 19-year-old guy who came to Vovchansk to pick up his grandmother from under shelling.

They were packing their things when the occupants burst into the house. The 19-year-old Ukrainian was stripped by the invaders and thrown into the basement. He tried to escape, after which they opened fire on him. By some miracle the young man survived. The Russians promised to kill him and locked him in the basement again.

The guy was able to free himself only at night, when the invaders left the house. Now he and his grandmother are already safe: they were evacuated.

“Dense shelling, attacks by CABs on ordinary houses and real atrocities where they managed to reach - the “Russian world” is actively encroaching on Vovchansk. Their victims are civilians who just want to live at home. I note that the police are working - investigators, criminologists and everyone the police are evacuating people and investigating the war crimes of the army of the terrorist country. We collect all the evidence and do not ignore a single statement,” Bolvinov said.
