Currently, there is a last chance to leave Kupyansk, – CMA
Currently, about 5800 people reside in Kupyansk region, reported the head of the Kupyansk City Military Administration (CMA) Andriy Besedin during a broadcast on «Suspilne. Studio».
According to him, the situation in the Kupyansk district is extremely difficult. This is not only due to the deterioration of the military situation – the enemy’s advance and regular shelling – but also due to the destruction of critical infrastructure.
“Therefore, on the left bank, which includes Kivsharivka, Kupyansk-Vuzlovyi, and the city of Kupyansk, unfortunately, there is currently no power supply, gas supply, or water supply. And due to the critical destruction and severe shelling, it is impossible to restore these services. As a result, a decision was made to intensify evacuation measures. However, I want to note that an evacuation was announced in the Kupyansk community last year, since August,” said the head of the CMA.
Thanks to this, all children were evacuated from the district. However, Besedin clarified that pensioners categorically refuse to leave – people are afraid and unwilling to abandon the homes where they have lived their entire lives. Neither the persuasion of relatives nor warnings from authorities, volunteers, and law enforcement help.
“Unfortunately, the trend is not as we hoped, because now we are not asking, not persuading, we are not emphasizing. We are saying that this is, in fact, the last chance to leave the community’s territory for safer places. We understand that each day the weather worsens and it gets colder and colder. Secondly, the logistical routes and paths through which we provided help – social and humanitarian – are being targeted by the enemy every minute, practically destroying them. I want to once again urge to heed this warning and wait until our guys and girls liberate all the currently occupied territories. We will return to Kupyansk and will rebuild everything,” added Besedin.
Volunteers and police regularly travel through the community, informing local residents where they can seek help regarding evacuation. In addition, flyers with instructions on how to leave dangerous settlements are posted on houses. Most often, Besedin noted, people evacuate to Kharkiv, but any region in the country is ready to accept displaced people and provide necessary assistance. Also, people will be able to receive a one-time financial aid of ten thousand eight hundred hryvnias from international organizations.
