Since the beginning of 2024, approximately 88 billion UAH has been spent on special pensions for law enforcement officers, and this amount may increase to 120 billion UAH by the end of the year, according to the Ministry of Social Policy’s response to a Forbes inquiry.

This is more than the budget allocated for education, which is 103 billion UAH, notes MP Zheleznyak.

Due to court decisions and disability status, the final payment to a law enforcement officer can amount to 100,000 UAH per month - which is tens of times higher than payments to other citizens.

In parliament and the government, preparations are underway to amend the procedure for receiving special pensions and granting disability status, as well as to dissolve the Medical and Social Expert Commissions (MSEC).
