DIU reported that MP Shevchenko is not their employee
The Main Intelligence Directorate stated that Member of Parliament Yevhen Shevchenko is not associated with their organization.
This was reported by the representative of the DIU, Andriy Yusov.
Earlier, Shevchenko called on the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, to start a dialogue with Russia. He also reported that he sent a letter to the newly elected President of the United States, Donald Trump, asking for help in stopping the "slide of Ukraine into dictatorship."
Meanwhile, in May 2023, the head of the DIU of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine, Kyrylo Budanov, confirmed that Member of Parliament Shevchenko held secret negotiations with the self-proclaimed president of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, on behalf of the Ukrainian special services.
Yusov emphasized that "the mentioned person is not an employee of the DIU of the Ministry of Defence."
He added that all citizens of Ukraine, especially Members of Parliament, should responsibly consider the interests of their state and avoid public statements that may threaten national security.
"Any step towards justifying the occupier or attempting to shift responsibility from the aggressor to the victim clearly aids the enemy. Such actions should be properly assessed by the competent authorities."
