In the Dnipropetrovsk region, a lieutenant colonel was exposed for forcing subordinates to build houses for his relatives

According to the investigation, since 2022, five servicemen have been building houses for the lieutenant colonel’s mother and mother-in-law. Two two-story cottages were built from scratch, and the lieutenant colonel also ordered a barbecue to be made for his mother’s home.

The commander threatened to send the soldiers to the front lines if they refused. The servicemen practically did not appear for duty for almost three years but continued to receive salaries, including bonuses for completing combat (special) tasks.

The commander’s actions caused damage to the state amounting to 2.5 million hryvnias.

Law enforcement officers conducted 12 searches at the commander’s and subordinates’ residences and workplaces and in their vehicles. Documents, records, mobile phones, and construction records were seized.

The commander was detained. He is charged with abuse of power and official authority, committed under martial law conditions, which resulted in grave consequences (part 5 of article 426-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The lieutenant colonel faces up to 12 years in prison.
