In Zakarpattia, a Kyiv resident was caught trying to illegally enter Slovakia

The man "armed himself" with a crutch and artificial flowers because, according to a fictional story, he was traveling to the graves of relatives.

This was reported by the press service of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.

Border guards of the "Velykyi Bereznyi" department of the Chop Detachment stopped a 22-year-old Kyiv resident a few hundred meters from the state border, who was heading to Slovakia with an unusual "inventory." According to the fictional story, the young man came to Zakarpattia to visit the graves of relatives. To make the tale seem plausible, he even purchased a ritual bouquet of flowers. In addition, he took a crutch with him and pretended to limp to avoid attracting attention from locals and law enforcement.

The suspicious stranger caught the attention of border guards at the bus station "Velykyi Bereznyi." So, they decided to monitor the actions of the potential offender. When he bypassed the local cemetery and left the city limits, he was stopped to verify the legality of his presence in the border zone.

The Kyiv resident initially insisted that he was going to visit the graves of relatives. However, he could not answer who in his family was buried and where exactly. After talking with the border guards, he confessed his true intentions – to cross into Slovakia illegally. He also revealed that the crutch was actually needed only for disguise. In his opinion, no one would suspect a person with a disability of having criminal intentions.

The man was taken to the border unit for the drawing up of administrative documents. He will have to answer in court for violating the border regime and attempting to cross the state border illegally.
