Since the amendments to the legislation on AWOL came into effect, almost 4,000 service members have already submitted relevant petitions.

This is reported by the Special Prosecutor’s Office for Defence of the Central Region.

"Since the mentioned law came into effect, nearly 4,000 service members have submitted relevant petitions, half of which have been approved by the courts, and the service members have returned to fulfilling their constitutional duty. The remaining petitions are under review in the courts," the message states.

The Special Prosecutor’s Office notes that those service members who voluntarily return to service by 01.01.2025 will have all benefits and social guarantees restored, and in the future, they will be exempt from criminal liability.
