Border guards discovered large-scale tobacco smuggling at a port in the Odesa region

More than 2 million packs of cigarettes without excise stamps, labeled as goods for Duty Free, were seized.

According to the documents, they were manufactured in Egypt, Portugal, and Switzerland, but in reality, the products were produced at a Ukrainian factory.

The smuggling was planned for export to Thailand and the UAE, as well as for sale through container shipments in Ukraine and abroad. The total value of the seized goods amounts to 165.6 million hryvnias.

The scheme was uncovered by border guards in cooperation with BES detectives.
