Lubinets told how many children were returned from Russia
The main issue in returning the children is verification, as the Russian Federation does not provide information about them.
The Commissioner for Human Rights of the Verkhovna Rada, Dmytro Lubinets, stated that as of today, 1,029 Ukrainian children have been successfully returned from Russia to Ukraine. During a television marathon broadcast, he emphasized that Qatar is the main intermediary in this matter.
«A large team of Ukraine, together with international partners under the Bring Kids Back UA initiative, managed to return 1,029 Ukrainian children. That’s for today»,– Lubinets said.
The Commissioner for Human Rights added that the main issue in returning the children is verification, since the Russian Federation does not provide information about them. However, Ukraine is using «all levers» to obtain it. In particular, international partners are providing assistance in returning the children.
«They (international partners - «Glavkom») conduct their communication with the Russian side. Then we work out the logistical routes for how we return our children»,– he stated.
The Ombudsman emphasized that the number of children returned so far is small compared to how many have been deported by the Russians. According to Lubinets, separate negotiations are being conducted for each child.
