Zelenskyy rejected Trump’s call for an immediate ceasefire
He also did not comment on the statement about his readiness for a "deal with Russia," which Trump had previously announced.
"A ceasefire without guarantees can be resumed at any moment because Putin has done this before. To ensure that there are no more losses among Ukrainians, it is necessary to ensure the reliability of peace and not ignore the occupation," Zelenskyy wrote on his Telegram channel.
At the same time, Zelenskyy reiterated that he would not accept any peace agreements without security guarantees.
"I said that we need a just and lasting peace that the Russians will not destroy in a few years, as they have done before. Therefore, when we talk about an effective peace with Russia, we must first and foremost talk about reliable peace guarantees," Zelenskyy emphasized.
He previously claimed that by guarantees of peace and security for Ukraine, he means the country’s membership in NATO.
Meanwhile, according to media reports, Trump and his entourage are opposed to Ukraine’s admission to the Alliance and propose postponing this issue for decades.
Russia is also against Ukraine’s NATO membership, citing Kyiv’s neutrality as one of its main goals in the current war.
