In the Kyiv region, police detained a repeat offender who robbed military personnel in a hostel

Law enforcement officers in the Kyiv region have detained a man who, according to the investigation, is involved in theft. The offender seized the belongings of Ukrainian military personnel in one of the hostels in the region.

This was reported by the press service of the Kyiv region police. The suspect faces up to eight years in prison.

"Law enforcement officers found out that the day before, the suspect had met with the servicemen who had stopped for the night in one of the hostels in the Kyiv region. When the men fell asleep, the offender stole their mobile phones, power banks, and disappeared. Moreover, using the phone of one of the victims, the suspect transferred about 20,000 hryvnias to his account through a mobile app," the press service specified.

The offender was quickly found and detained – he turned out to be a 33-year-old resident of the Kharkiv region, who had had multiple run-ins with the law before.

A criminal case has been opened on the fact of theft committed during martial law, and the detainee has been informed of the suspicion. The court has chosen a measure of restraint for him in the form of detention.
