The situation on the front: the most combat clashes have been recorded in the Kursk direction

During this day, the most combat clashes have been recorded on the Kursk direction. Fierce battles also continue on the Pokrovsk direction.

This is stated in the operational report of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine as of 16:00 on December 20. The total number of combat clashes along the front line since the beginning of the day has reached 146.

Russian troops are actively using aviation, including guided bombs (KAB), and continue to attack in all directions at the line of contact. Ukrainian defenders are holding their positions and taking measures to prevent enemy breakthroughs.

The occupiers also continue artillery shelling of Ukraine’s border areas. The settlements of Velyka Pysarivka, Oleksandrivka, Vyntorivka, Yastrubshchyna (Sumy region); Tymofiivka (Kharkiv region); Klyusy (Chernihiv region) have come under attack.

On the Kupyansk direction, Ukrainian military repelled five assault attacks near the settlements of Synkivka, Petropavlivka, Zahrizove, and Lozova. Three combat clashes are still ongoing.

On the Lyman direction, the enemy continues attacks near Yampilivka, Terny, Ivanivka, Torske, Hryhorivka, and the Serebriansky Forest. Since the beginning of the day, 11 combat clashes have been recorded, four of which are still ongoing.

On the Kramatorsk direction, Defence Forces repelled six enemy breakthrough attempts near Chasiv Yar, with three battles currently ongoing.

On the Toretsk direction, the enemy, with aviation support, attacked Ukrainian troops’ positions four times in the areas of Toretsk and Leonidivka, but to no avail. An air strike was also recorded in the area of Kostyantynivka.

On the Pokrovsk direction, the enemy conducted 31 attacks in the areas of Myroliubivka, Promin, Lysyivka, Zelenyj, Novyi Trud, Dachen, Vovkove, Pishchane, Novovasylivka, Novoelyzavetivka, Novooleksiivka, and Ukrainska. Five combat clashes are currently ongoing.

On the Kurakhove direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled 19 attacks in the areas of Sontsiivka, Stari Terny, Andriivka, Kurakhove, Dachne, Dalne, Kostiantynopilske, and Kostiantynopil. Of those, 16 assaults were successfully repelled, and three battles are still ongoing.

On the Vremivka direction, Ukrainian forces stopped 13 enemy assaults in the areas of Uspenivka, Dalne, Yantarne, Rozlyv, Bohatyr, Velyka Novosilka, Makarivka, Novosilka, Novopil, and Novodarivka. Three attacks are still ongoing.

On the Orikhiv direction, the enemy attempted to breach defenses near Mala Tokmachka, but this attempt was successfully repelled.

On the Prydniprovskyi direction, in the area of Kherson Island, the enemy attempted to attack Ukrainian positions twice but failed.

In the Kursk direction, 40 combat clashes, one missile strike, and 260 artillery shellings were recorded.

On the Kharkiv, Siversk, and Hulyaipole directions, no active hostilities by the enemy have been observed since the beginning of the day.
