During the freezing of the war with Russia, political life will begin in Ukraine, and people will argue about who did more for the Defence Forces. Such a situation is dangerous because the Russians have no political activity, and they will simply focus on rearming and preparing for a new invasion. About the reasons for the danger of ending the war and the necessary actions of Ukrainians, the head of the "Come Back Alive" foundation, military expert and volunteer Taras Chmut said in an interview with Ukrainian Pravda.

Chmut emphasized that it is not possible to stop fighting Russia. In his opinion, if we stop, Ukrainians will start quarreling and figuring out who did more for the army the very next day. Moreover, political forces will actively work to come to power. Meanwhile, in Russia, everything will be different: the Kremlin will immediately begin preparing for a new invasion. It is especially dangerous that during the resumption of the war, the Russians will not make previous mistakes when they underestimated Ukrainian society and the army and overestimated their own strength. According to Chmut, the foundation is engaged in operational planning, and one of the important goals for the future is not to allow the war to resume in the same way as in 2022.

"This is a very bad scenario for us. Russia needs to be pressured, no matter how difficult it is for us, but we need to exert pressure. Because on the second day of the armistice, we will start arguing about who fought more, who brought more, and who is the patriot, and we will begin to form political party lists. And Russia will continue to rearm. A few years will pass, and it will attack again, and it will not repeat the mistakes that were in 2022," said Chmut.

In addition, the head of the foundation noted that Ukrainian politicians will be oriented towards public demand, while Moscow will focus on armaments, transitioning the economy to a war footing, seeking the lifting of sanctions, and access to technologies, warned Chmut.

Another question answered by the interlocutor of UP was the possibility of the appearance of Western troops in Ukraine. In his opinion, there is nothing wrong with them fighting or training. But it is still unclear what the partners mean: what mandate the peacekeepers will have, he added.
