Transfer of Air Defence military technicians: the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reminded of Syrskyi’s ban
According to MP Oleksiy Honcharenko, the military personnel servicing the Western air defence systems IRIS-T are being transferred to the infantry. However, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine assures that the issue has been resolved and the highly qualified specialists of the Air Force remain in their positions.
There is an order from the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, prohibiting the transfer of highly qualified Air Force specialists to infantry units, so there is no reason for concern. This was reported by the spokesperson on behalf of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Dmytro Lykhoviy, in an interview with Focus .
Dmytro Lykhoviy added that the highly qualified Air Force personnel who have undergone special training for aircraft maintenance will not be transferred to the infantry.
Significant funds have been spent on the training and preparation of these specialists, and their unique experience is important and irreplaceable. However, the need for infantry personnel remains current.
Lykhoviy separately noted that it is necessary to increase the number of personnel in mechanized brigades. Unfortunately, current mobilization capabilities do not fully meet this need, which is why there is a reduction in some parts of the Armed Forces responsible for logistics, supply, and maintenance.
