In Odesa, an employee of the TRC was detained for promising conscripts to remove them from the search list
In Odesa, law enforcement officers detained a serviceman of the territorial recruitment and social support center of the district, who had taken a bribe to remove a client from the wanted list.
As stated in the Main Directorate of the National Police in Odesa region, a 29-year-old soldier from one of the district recruitment and social support centers in Odesa was disseminating information among acquaintances that, for a certain monetary reward, he could influence colleagues and help conscripted men solve the issue of avoiding mobilization to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
During investigative operations, law enforcement officers documented how the serviceman promised two conscription-age men assistance in removing their wanted status. The service cost one from Odesa 500 dollars, while for another, who was registered in the region, it was twice as expensive.
Police investigators detained the serviceman when he received money from a resident of Odesa. As physical evidence, the police seized 500 dollars, a mobile phone, documentation, and other items of interest to the investigation from the serviceman.
Having gathered sufficient evidence, investigators accused the suspect under part 3 of article 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, namely: receiving undue benefit for influencing the decision of a person holding a public office, combined with extortion of undue benefit. At the investigators’ request, the court imposed a preventive measure on the suspect in the form of detention with the right to post bail of 242,200 hryvnias.
According to current legislation, the offender faces up to eight years of imprisonment with confiscation of property.
